Prado Museum displaying paintings in Google Earth
Prado Museum in Spain has now joined hands with the search engine giant Google.
They are now displaying their paintings in the Google Earth application.
Users can now checkout the gallery’s paintings from within the application itself.
The paintings are accessible in high details. Users can zoom in to see the minute details not accessible otherwise.
Around 14 paintings are accessible from this new medium including Diego Velazquez’s “Las Meninas,” Francisco de Goya’s “Third of May” and Peter Paul Rubens’ “The Three Graces.”
Prado director Miguel Zugaza spoke about this collaborative affair: “There is no better way to pay tribute to the great masters of the history of art than to universalize knowledge of their works using optimum conditions.”
Google Spain director Javier Rodriguez Zapatero added: “With Google Earth technology it is possible to enjoy these magnificent works in a way never previously possible, obtaining details impossible to appreciate through firsthand observation.”
