Microsoft Songsmith: Their version of Apple GarageBand
It is no surprise that Apple is a major source of inspiration for Microsoft. A lot of new features in Vista and Windows 7 were borrowed from Apple Mac OS X.
The company also has alternative programs for Apple’s iLife suite of applications. Like the Windows Movie Maker (Apple iMovie) and Windows Photo Gallery (Apple iPhoto).
Microsoft is working on a new product named Songsmith which is said to be an alternative for Apple’s GarageBand application from Apple iLife.
Microsoft Songsmith was showcased at the CES 2009 and this would complete their alternative package for the Windows platform.
This application is designed to enable the user to create music. It also enables the user to sing a tune into a microphone and the application automatically creates a background score that matches it.
