Microsoft Internet Explorer continues to lose market share
Microsoft has been pretty active related to development of their upcoming Internet Explorer 8 web browser.
IE 8 already has seen two beta releases.
The company has however failed to keep its market share which is falling to rival browsers in the market like Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
The rising popularity of Mac OS X and Apple computers is not helping them as the company does not offer IE for Mac.
Net Applications has reported that IE lost more than 1.5 points in December.
Rival browsers including Firefox, Chrome and Safari gained during the period.
The report further said that Internet Explorer lost almost 8 points last year. And it now has a market share at its lowest since 1999.
Net Applications reported the following figures for the month of December:
Internet Explorer 68.15%
Mozilla Firefox: 21.34%
Apple Safari: 7.93%
Google Chrome: 1.04%
Opera: 0.71%
