MS Office 12 for Mobile Products

Microsoft is said to be developing a mobile version of their MS Office 12 office suite. They are expected to announce the commencement of the long-awaited Office 12 beta program possibly as soon as next week. However, it is not very clear on which of the office products including a new “Office 12 for Windows Mobile” SKU will be part of the initial test round.

The company has already sent confirmation notices to the first group of testers accepted into the Office 12 Beta 1 program. They told these testers that they should expect to receive the Beta 1 code, documentation, and support some time in the next two to three weeks. They did not disclose however on what components of the Office 12 suite would be released in this cycle.

In addition to the Office 12 desktop suite, Microsoft also is refreshing its Exchange Server and SharePoint Portal Server products as part of the “Wave 12″ family. Microsoft has also revealed that their would be new members added to the MS Office 12 suite including an Excel Server and InfoPath Server.

There are also rumors in the market about an ‘Office 12 for Windows Mobile’ product in the market. Microsoft has totally denied commenting on this topic. They are also in the process of developing a set of Office Live add-on services. These are expected to be available to the public in beta form by first quarter of 2006.
