Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Beta now available

Microsoft has now made available the first beta of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 to everyone who is interested.

The company however warns that it is not yet ready for use on production machines.

It has been available to the subscribers of its TechNet and Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) services since sometime now.

This beta edition of Vista SP2 is available in five language-specific editions: English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.

They are not going to make available betas in any other languages.

31 additional versions would be released when it reaches release candidate stage.

Users can download the Vista SP2 beta as a 388MB stand-alone installer for 32-bit versions or as a 614MB download for 64-bit. They have also made available a 1.2GB .iso disk image.

It is also available through Windows Update after completing some steps.
