AVG 8 Invalid Update Control CTF File Problem

If you are using the AVG 8 Free edition and noticing an error related to Invalid Update Control CTF File, you need to perform some steps manually to resume the auto update feature.

Find the location of the folder where AVG is storing the updates. On our Vista machine, these files were located here:

C:\ProgramData\avg8\update\download

The location on Windows XP is likely to be:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\avg8\update\download

Just delete the files with CTF file extension here and the problem should be fixed.

This worked the first time, but it happened again and is not working. I deleted the ctf files run updated and then it gives the same error, I look at the folder again and the ctf files are there again.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Honestly said that deleting those .ctf files really do help me at first. I was glad and all for a couple month ago since I dont have to see the Invalid-CTF-File warned me again. Unfortunately, about last week the same Invalid-CTF-File warning keep appearing everytime I want to update the AVG. Why is that? I have been searching for the solution but all I found is the same thing which is to delete those .ctf files. I can guarantee you that I already deleted those files and they are no longer in my system! Why is this happen? I really wish someone could help me to solve this problem. And one more thing, what is Link-Scanner anyway?Because it’s in “disabled” mode in the Overview tab. Is it a normal thing since I used AVG Free Edition?Btw, thanx in advance!
