Apple removes the Antivirus recommendation from its website

Apple has now removed a message from their website which caused massive discussions online.

The company had mentioned on one of the pages that Mac users should install Antivirus applications to remain secure from the malware spread across the internet.

Apple went on to recommend some applications which the user could purchase from the Apple Online Store.

The company has now removed that message stating that Apple Macs are safe out of the box.

Apple spokesperson Bill Evans confirmed in a statement: “We have removed the KnowledgeBase article because it was old and inaccurate. The Mac is designed with built-in technologies that provide protection against malicious software and security threats right out of the box. However, since no system can be 100 percent immune from every threat, running antivirus software may offer additional protection.”
