Oracle contributes data-integrity protection code to Linux code
Database industry giant Oracle has contributed data-integrity protection code which was developed in collaboration with hardware vendor Emulex to the Linux kernel.
The company said that this code would decrease the possibility that erroneous data will get written to disk.
Scott McIntyre, vice president of product marketing at Emulex added that this code is designed to help data-center administrators track and address corrupted data quickly.
The aim is to lower the cost of management and downtime for companies.
Oracle makes money from the Linux operating system through their Unbreakable Linux support service.
This service was launched to compete with a similar service offered by Red Hat.
