Symbian: Nokia acquisition of the company complete

Symbian has announced that Nokia has now completed the acquisition of the company.

Symbian happens to be the world’s largest smartphone platform company.

Nokia had earlier this year announced their plans to acquire the remaining stake in Symbian with the aim of making it available through Open Source platform.

They are aiming to make it a more attractive platform compared to rival mobile platforms like Google Android and Windows Mobile.

Nokia is currently scheduled to launch their latest Apple iPhone challenger Nokia N97 next year which would be powered by this platform.
