The popular open source web browser application Mozilla Firefox is now 1 year old. It was launch in the month of November last year and since then users have downloaded more than 100 million copies of the open-source Web browser. Chris Beard, head of marketing and product management for Mozilla Corporation said in a statement: “At the launch, we had a million downloads on the first day and have not seen any let up in demand.†Mozilla Firefox has benefited massively from viral word-by-mouth marketing. In its second year of existence, several new things are in store for the browser.
Mozilla is soon expected to release the stable version of Mozilla Firefox 1.5 version, which brings newer facilities like automatic updates and faster performance when hitting the “forward” and “back” buttons. Chris Beard added: “In 2006, we plan to adopt a more aggressive product cycle. Firefox 2 will launch in the mid-point of next year and Firefox 3 will be out in the first quarter of 2007.”
