Borland names Tod Nielsen as their new CEO

Borland Software has announced that they are appointing former Microsoft executive Tod Nielsen as their new president and CEO. He also becomes a member of the Cupertino, Calif. Company’s board. Tod is replacing previous CEO Dale Fuller who left the company way back in the month of July. Tod is an industry veteran having served as a long-term executive at Microsoft, starting there in 1988.

He was part of the development of the company’s personal database product, Microsoft Access and he spent most of his time at Microsoft in developer relations. He also served as a vice president of developer tools and, eventually, vice president of the company’s platform group. He left Microsoft in 2000 to join a startup CrossGain which was a project headed by another former, long-term Microsoft exec, Adam Bosworth.

CrossGain was later acquired by BEA Systems in late 2001. After that Tod became the BEA’s chief marketing officer and executive vice president of engineering. However, he did not continue their for long. Adam Bosworth is currently the Google’s vice president of engineering and Tod is now joining Borland as their CEO and President. He was currently working for Oracle as their senior vice president of marketing and global sales.
