Microsoft: Morro not a competitor for internet suites from rivals
Software giant Microsoft has announced that they are going to launch a new free security application codenamed Morro for the users of Windows operating system.
This would replace their existing product Windows Live OneCare which is a paid offering.
The company has said that this free product would not be a rival to produces offered by companies like Symantec and McAfee.
Microsoft said that Morro would just provide basic protection for the user’s computer. Its focus is on viruses and malware.
Amy Barzdukas, senior director of product management for Microsoft’s Online Services and Windows Division said in a statement: “This is really focused on the 50 to 60 percent (of Windows users) who don’t have, or won’t pay for, anti-virus protection, anti-malware protection.”
