AVG offering free upgrades to users affected by recent user32.dll problem
AVG was recently in news for releasing an update which labeled a genuine Windows system file as a Trojan.
If the user went ahead to delete the file, the system becomes unreliable. In some cases, users had to reinstall their operating system to get back online.
AVG has announced that they are now offering free upgrades to the users who were affected by this problem.
Users are being given a free license or a year extension for paid registered users.
AVG said in its statement: “As a follow-up to the rapid distribution of recovery instructions and repair CDs, AVG Technologies is offering all affected users a free license or license extension as follows.”
They would start contacting the users who faced the problem in the coming days.
