Steve Ballmer not impressed with Google Android
It is not a surprise that Steve Ballmer is not impressed with Google Android.
He said that the mobile operating system has no revenue model and it makes no sense for Google to be involved in it.
He said: “They can hire smart guys, hire a lot of people, blah dee blah dee blah, but you know they start out way behind, in a certain sense.”
Ballmer further added: “I don’t really understand their strategy. Maybe somebody else does. If I went to my shareholder meeting, my analyst meeting, and said, ‘hey, we’ve just launched a new product that has no revenue model!’…I’m not sure that my investors would take that very well. But that’s kind of what Google’s telling their investors about Android.”
Google on the other hand has good reasons to get into the mobile operating system market. Google Android is connected to a Google Account and a lot of Google services are bundled on it by default.
They would gain a lot in the longer run from this investment which shows little revenue at the moment.
