Mozilla Firefox bounces back on Internet Explorer

This is already getting a bit boring. Every other month, Mozilla Firefox web browser shows a new trend of usage. Last month, we had reports of the user base declining in favor of Internet Explorer. And this month, the latest statistic figures released by OneStat.com claims that the open source browser has finally achieved the significant 10% market share levels.

If we believe this statistic, one out of every 10 web user is using Mozilla Firefox and this is pretty amazing achievement considering the browser is just around a year old. The total user of Mozilla engine based browsers is now around 11.51 percent – an increase of 2.82 per cent since April 2005. Microsoft Internet Explorer continues to however dominate the proceedings with around a global share of 85.45 per cent.

The significant part of the news is that the gain of Mozilla Firefox is coming at the expense of Internet Explorer. IE has lost around 1.18 per cent market share in the last couple of months as per the statistics of OneStat.com. Another interesting fact is that Firefox is more popular in the USA and Canada compared to web users in UK and other European countries. In fact, Opera is said to be quite a lot more popular in such countries especially Norway and the likes.

The latest statistics as per OneStat.com:
Microsoft IE – 85.45 per cent
Mozilla Firefox – 11.51 per cent
Apple Safari – 1.75 per cent
Opera – 0.77 per cent
Netscape – 0.26 per cent
