Microsoft Live Mesh coming to Apple Mac
Microsoft aims to take on Apple MobileMe with a Mac version of their Live Mesh technology.
Microsoft Live Mesh is designed to sync files between various devices including PCs and Mobile devices.
It uses both software and web based storage system. The data is stored on Microsoft’s servers.
Microsoft said that users would soon be able to sync their data between PCs and Macs using this technology.
They are not supporting the Apple iPhone for now. Windows Mobile is already supported on the Live Mesh.
Ian Moulster, Windows Live Commercial Lead said in a statement on this technology: “At mesh.com you have the Live Desktop which is a Web based storage space containing folders. On your computer, you can right-click on a file and select ‘add to my mesh’. After a few seconds the folder will turn blue to signify that it’s been added to your Mesh”.
He added: “You could certainly build a MobileMe type application using Mesh, but you couldn’t build Mesh using MobileMe. This is a development platform and we are expecting other people to build upon it. We’re expecting 3,000 attendees to start doing something with Live Mesh”
