Google supports OpenID with Google Accounts

Google has announced that they are now supporting the OpenID initiative with Google Accounts.

Web users would Google accounts can now log into any third party service that supports OpenID.

Incidentally, Yahoo is already providing similar functionality and Microsoft is soon going to enable it on Windows Live accounts.

Google for now is not allowing users with other OpenID accounts to connect to its services without creating a new separate account.

This means that the search engine giant is currently working as a OpenID “provider”.

Zoho and Plaxo are two of the well known projects which accepts OpenID.
