LinkedIn expands social networking aspects with apps

LinkedIn has become the latest social networking service to add support for third party applications on their network.

The company would support applications from companies like Google and Amazon.

Patrick Crane, LinkedIn’s vice president of marketing spoke about these new features: “What you’re looking at here is really collaboration infrastructure for companies.”

They are for now offering eight such offerings.

Box.net enables the user to share and exchange files.
Huddle.net provides a secure online workspace to exchange ideas.
Google enables them to embed presentations in the user profile pages.
Amazon allows the users to showcase what they are reading nowadays.

LinkedIn recently got some fresh investments which put the value of the company at a cool USD 1 billion.
