Twitter: A useful tool for terrorists?
Twitter is one of the most loved web services we have today. The micro-blogging service enables a user to post small messages which are received by the followers of that account within seconds.
This service is now being said to be a possible tool that can be used by terrorists to stay connected with each other.
It was mentioned in a report presented by the 304th Military Intelligence Battalion.
This report was published online by Federation of the American Scientists on their website.
The report said that terror attacks can be organized using mobile and internet technologies like Global Positioning System, digital maps, and Twitter mashups.
It said: “Twitter has also become a social activism tool for socialists, human rights groups, communists, vegetarians, anarchists, religious communities, atheists, political enthusiasts, hacktivists and others to communicate with each other and to send messages to broader audiences.”
We would say that there are enough tools and technologies available online easily which can be used to replicate Twitter like functionality.
