PC manufacturers aiming to launch computers with faster startup

The days of DOS operating system were great as the system booted much faster compared to what we have now.

Computers can now take minutes to get into usable conditions and PC manufacturers are working on solving that problem.

DeviceVM is one such company which develop technologies for faster booting of computers.

A company representative said: “It’s ridiculous to ask people to wait a couple of minutes. People want instant-on.”

Hewlett-Packard, Dell and Lenovo are soon going to launch computers which would offer quick access to basic functions like email and web browser within 30 seconds of starting the machine.

It remains to be seen if we can reach a stage where computers become as fast as mobile phones in terms of startup time.
