Aetna collaborates with Microsoft HealthVault

Health insurer Aetna has announced that they are now collaborating with software giant Microsoft.

Aetna would now become the first health insurer to provide connectivity with Microsoft HealthVault.

Aetna customers would now be able to access their records through Microsoft HealthVault.

They would also get the flexibility to change their health plans from the service.

They would also be able to decide on what information they want to let HealthVault access from their records.

Aetna President Mark Bertolini said in a statement: “We can avoid duplicate testing, we can avoid mistakes that occur as a result of not understanding the member’s complete condition. Because we don’t have a national health information technology network, this will stand as a first-generation of that kind of capability.”
