RIM announces Blackberry Application Store
Apple has the Apple App Store. Google Android has the Android Marketplace. Now Blackberry users have their own Blackberry Application Store.
Research in Motion has announced the formation of the Blackberry Application Store.
Blackberry Application Store would cater to RIM Blackberry users who would be able to checkout and buy mobile applications for their devices.
RIM said that the online store would go live in March next year. Developers can however start submitting their applications starting December this year.
RIM added that developers would retain 80% of the revenues generated from their applications. Apple gives the developers 70% of the revenues.
RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis added about this new venture: “The new Blackberry application storefront and Blackberry application centers will further support the growing Blackberry ecosystem and help bridge consumers with developers and carriers as more and more innovative and interesting applications arrive.”
