Fennec Mobile Firefox browser released in Alpha
Mozilla has finally released the alpha version of their much delayed mobile browser based on Firefox.
They have codenamed this release Fennec and it is now available on the Nokia N810 Internet tablet.
Christian Sejersen, mobile director of engineering on Mozilla Mobile spoke about this mobile browser: “What we have said before is that Firefox Mobile will be afforded the same first-class citizen status as the desktop version, and not one version behind like most other Web browser developers do.”
Mozilla said that the browser would be touchscreen aware and would support modern technologies like Ajax and of course JavaScript.
They are now working on a version that would work on the Windows Mobile platform which is hugely popular in smartphones around the world.
A version for Apple iPhone is a tough deal because Apple has not allowed a rival application for Safari on this device.
Mozilla has said that they are not working on a Google Android version for the time being.
