Opera Merlin Technology Preview 1
Opera Browser seems to be doing to web browsers with Apple does to computers. Shock the world with innovation. Just recently, we got ourselves overwhelmed with the news that the excellent browser product was now free for use. Now, the company has released the first technology preview of their next generation browser version code named Opera Merlin or Opera 9.
The build number for this release is 8031 and the company suggests that this update should be used on properly backed up computers and should not be used to update stable releases. Another major change is the new mail storage format. The change list is too long to be listed here so, go check out the changelog.
Another much-awaited change was the new updated IMAP code. This version also comes with support for the Atom 1.0 standard and brings support for tons of protocols including WebForms 2, XSLT 1.0, XSLTProcessor constructor, XPath 1.0, designMode for rich text editing, and lot more.
Opera is also continuing their efforts to get their browser to pass the Acid2 test and a lot of fixes are apparently displayed in this released edition.
