Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 released

Microsoft has released the second version of their Silverlight technology which competes with Adobe Flash for interactive components on the web.

The company said that the second version of Silverlight is designed to further enhance the usability of this browser plug-in.

Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 comes with improved support for web video in addition to a subset of the .Net framework.

As a result it now supports a lot of new languages including C#, Python, and Ruby.

The plugin works in several web browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and of course Internet Explorer.

Novell is working on a version that is compatible with Linux.
