Zoho Mail offers offline mode!
Zoho seems to have outdone Google in implementing Google Gears support on their web mail service.
Zoho Mail now offers an offline mode feature which uses gears to let the user access his mails offline.
The application synchronizes the emails with an offline storage which the user can access even when there is no Internet access.
User gets to choose the number of email messages which are to be made available offline.
He can also save drafts of email offline which can later be sent when there is Internet connectivity available.
Zoho cofounder and evangelist Raju Vegesna spoke about the offline capabilities of the Zoho Mail service: “We offer support for up to 5,000 e-mails currently and make them available to users as a download they can access when not online. You can also choose to download images and attachments to access in the offline mode.”
Their efforts has managed to impress the Google Gears team. Brad Neuberg of the Google Gears team said in a statement: “I’ve got to say that I am really impressed. Offline is hard, especially with something like e-mail.”
Zoho Mail accounts can also be connected to user’s existing Google or Yahoo email accounts.
They are also now offering POP/SMTP support on the service.
