Symantec acquiring MessageLabs
Security software maker Symantec has announced that they are acquiring MessageLabs.
The deal is worth around $695 million.
Symantec said that this acquisition would help them further enhance the capabilities of their security products.
MessageLabs develop technologies to protect users from viruses from online communication mediums like emails and instant messengers.
MessageLabs provides their applications online for a fee. Symantec Chief Executive Officer John Thompson spoke about the acquisition deal: “The timing of this choice couldn’t be more appropriate as customers think carefully about their IT investment plans for the coming years”.
Symantec would gain more than 19,000 customers through this deal.
