Mono 2.0 on Linux released
The developers behind the Mono project have released Mono 2.0.
Mono 2.0 would enable the users on Linux, Mac OS X and UNIX platforms to run .Net-based applications.
The developers said that this second edition of the software leverages Microsoft’s .Net Framework 2.0 programming model.
Miguel de Icaza, vice president of developer platforms at Novell said in a statement: “The existing apps you build on Windows, you can now run those applications on Linux or Mac OS X. Different people have different reasons for doing so.” He is also the Mono project maintainer.
Mono 2.0 comes with support for C# 3.0 and LINQ.
Mono 2.0 runtime is being provided under the LGPL.
