Messages in Plain English:
Focus for this release has been to make Toolbox user friendly. All messages are now in plain english. The message system is a big part the the user interface and is used when there is no output from a building block. An example of this is when a Blur filter doesn’t get anything as input, then there is no output.
Another example is a block that blends two images into one, it needs two inputs, if only one is given then there is no output. In the past the system that figures out what is wrong, has been very simple and only capable of presenting messages readable by a programmer, the sort of text that is hostile to normal people. This system has been reworked from scratch, so its now a complex language system. All this just to print out easy readable messages.
Light Block:
A new Light block has been added that has 12 parameters. With this block its possible to give a natural looking depth to an image. This replaces the age old Bump block that had 8 parameters and was difficult to use. The new Light block accepts up to 4 inputs allowing for fine grained control of ambient, diffuse and specular. Plus its faster.
Minor changes in this version:
* Vector Editor now resizes with the user interface.
* Added a Flip parameter to the Text block, that mirrors the text.
* Added a Flip parameter to the Transform block.
* The welcome text was sometimes shown instead of No Output messages.
* Control bar sometimes lost its state.
* Bug fixes.
Requirements:
* Mac OS X 10.5 or later
* 1.5GHz processor (2.4GHz recommended)
* 1GB of system RAM
* 64MB of video RAM
* Three-button mouse
Availability and Pricing:
Toolbox is free to try and can be downloaded without any registration from the Toolbox homepage (4.6 MB). A single user license can be purchased for 20 Euro while this program is alpha. Final price will be 50 Euro. Software updates are free.
