Microsoft working on Windows Cloud platform

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has revealed some information about a new project the company is working on.

This project is named Windows Cloud. It could possibly be an operating system optimized to make use of cloud computing.

Ballmer did not say much stating that it would ruin the project launch event.

It is of course a totally different project from Windows 7 which would succeed the Windows Vista operating system.

Microsoft is primarily a software company but the popularity of web based applications has made them consider entering this segment of the market.

Google and Salesforce.com are two major forces in the cloud computing market. Amazon also is one of the major providers of cloud computing platform.

Look for new very low cost post-pc hardware to deliver streaming apps from the cloud. To be announced at WinHEC
