Microsoft plans cheaper Windows Operating System for India

World’s biggest software company Microsoft has traditionally giving India a step motherly treatment. We still have not seen a genuine Hindi edition of the Windows Operating System. And the levels of piracy are such that the company has not had much success marketing their applications in this domestic market of their Indian offices. The company is now planning new concepts for the Indian consumer to get their Indian operations on track.

Microsoft now plans to release a special low cost edition of their Windows Operating System catering to the local customer. The company aims to control the piracy levels around here by offering a good price for the genuine Windows Operating System. Microsoft’s representative Bradford Smith was speaking to the media at the Microsoft’s Hyderabad facility: “We will launch more value products at affordable prices in India soon to reduce software piracy levels.”

This low cost edition is expected to cost a much affordable Rs. 1000 and would help the cost of the entry-level computers, which comes preloaded with genuine Operating System from the company. Market reports claim that the piracy levels in India are around 75%, which means that the software companies lose a lot of revenue each year.
