Skype updates Windows version to 1.4
Skype was recently in news for its high profile takeover by eBay. The company has just launched the latest version of their windows client, which is now in its version 1.4. However, there are no signs of eBay’s connection to this application as nothing much has evolved from the beta, which has been available for download since the month of august.
The latest edition of Skype for windows offer services like call forwarding and downloadable ring tones, pictures, and sounds. It allows the users to forward incoming Skype calls to another Skype account for free. In addition, users can also forward their calls to up to three landline or mobile numbers for as little as 2 cents a minute depending upon the local prevailing rates in the country.
With these added features, users can now personalize their Skype service by downloading pictures, sounds, and ring tones. Also, now the company has made it easier for the users to import contacts from Microsoft Outlook directly into their Skype buddy lists. In addition, users can also make one-click calls to numbers and names from Internet Explorer and Outlook.
The company has also claimed that they are not worried about the competition considering their extremely loyal base of more than 50 million users. Skype chief marketing officer Saul Klein said in a statement: “We have a two-year lead in terms of features and functionality. And we feel that the fact that we have a very large user base, whose growth accelerated this month, gives us an advantage.”
