Hotmail introduces more comprehensive email scanning

Well, it now seems pretty dumb that even after so many years we have got email; it is now that the providers are finding this feature worth implementing. Hotmail introduces free outgoing email scanning for all the free Hotmail account users. Well, most of the top email providers do scan the files before the user can download them for viruses, but I doubt many of them stop users from mailing virus infected mails. Hotmail now stops that. I tried sending the EICAR test file and it did not let me. So, it works for sure.
Update:
Yahoo! Mail already does it. So, when MSN claims that:
By using MSN Hotmail, you have the only free global e-mail service to both scan and clean incoming and outgoing e-mail for viruses and worms before they can enter your inbox and risk infecting your PC.
I can only give a sigh!
