AOL allows access to third party email services
AOL has announced that they have now enhanced their web services to allow the user to access third party email services directly from AOL.com.
This would enable the users of AOL.com to access their emails from rival services including Yahoo! Mail, Gmail. They have not supported Hotmail directly as Microsoft does not allow them to provide this functionality.
The company said that this new feature is part of their initiative to give more powers to the web users.
AOL users would be able to control the content they want to see by adding third party resources like RSS feeds and other content.
Bill Wilson, executive vice president of programming at AOL spoke about these new developments: “We know that consumers today have multiple email accounts on different services to keep tabs on daily, and we want to make it easier for them.”
They have also now added an extended navigation bar which includes content from AOL web properties like TMZ, StyleList, ParentDish, Wallet Pop, Asylum and more.
