Mozilla Firefox and Netscape Browser gain on Internet Explorer

After surprising reports in July, where Mozilla Firefox recorded a minor drop in its usage share in the web browser market, it made a return to gains in the month of August. It was not alone to gain users from the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, as even Netscape noticed an increase in their market share as per the reports released by the NetApplications, a web-site analysis company.

Mozilla Firefox improved by a fifth of a point in market share in August to 8.27 percent from 8.07 percent in July. In comparison, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer slid in the market share to 86.31 percent from 87.2 percent last month. Other browsers like Safari and Opera also made gains in this market. Safari rose to 2.2 percent from 2.13 percent in July. Netscape showed an impressive growth with its market share touching 2.02 percent from 1.5 percent.

Opera Browser also posted an impressive result with its market share as pre the statistic company improving to 0.62 percent from 0.49 percent. Phil Vizzaccaro, chief executive of NetApplications spoke about this report: “Firefox isn’t the only interesting story in August, with Safari and Netscape on the rise, Internet Explorer faced an offensive on three separate fronts”.
