Microsoft cancels this month’s security update
World’s largest software company Microsoft has finally decided not to release any major updates this month on the second Tuesday. The company had earlier announced that it was going to release a patch for a critical flaw in its operating system. However, testing on the patch showed some major issues with quality and they have decided to scrap the plans to launch it this coming Tuesday.
The company uses the second Tuesday of the month to launch a series of patches they have developed to make it easier for system administrators in corporate environments to schedule the patch implementation on the networks. The day has come to be known as the “Patch Tuesday” by security professionals.
Microsoft has not specifically told the media what quality issue they faced in the developed patch, which was due for launch. The company spokesperson said: “It was a quality issue. They found something that made them realize that it was best not to release this month.” Now, the Microsoft engineers have decided to test and fix the patch more to ensure safe installation on the user’s machines.
The company is still due to update its Malicious Software Removal Tool. In addition, Microsoft is also going to release an unspecified high priority, “non-security” update.
