Google Chrome already updated to enable Spell Check

The first release of Google Chrome had some issues with the spell check feature. It did show red underlines under incorrectly spelled words but gave no options on right clicking.

It seems to have been fixed now and users are not required to do anything manually.

Google Chrome seems to be contacting the Google servers every now and then. And this update seems to have been delivered remotely.

Google also seems to have issues with Java plug-in. Lots of people have reported that Java applets do not work for them in Chrome even when it is installed on the system.

Adobe Flash seems to be working fine so we believe this is another bug that should be fixed pretty soon. Automatically!

So, how to disable the spell checker in Google Chrome?

Well, there is no easy way. You would have to find out a file with extension bdic. It is present in the Google Chrome user data directory on your computer. Once you have located it, open it in a text editor and delete everything in it. Deleting the file is not going to work as Chrome would automatically download it once more.

This does not of course disable the functionality but since the dictionary is now empty, you do not get to deal with the spell checker any more.

This is pure fiction. Just downloaded Chrome and spell check is nonexistent.

I misspelled two words. One I was able to right click and change the other I couldn’t I cant tell the difference.

Upon further review it seems that when its got no clue is when it wont give you any choices.

I tried updating the entire software package and spell check still does not work. The words are underlined as many have pointed out, but no corrections are made to that word.

The spell check is certainly less powerful than say Firefox. It is there but not very complete.

To enable java you need to install the Java 6 update 10 Release Candidate from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ea/6u10/6u10RC.jsp – It has support for Webkit.

The spell checker does not work on some pages. Like Blogger! This has to be the worst browser that I have ever used. Why change something that isn’t broken? I’m going back to Firefox. They can keep Chrome.
