Google Chrome? A web browser from Google?

People have been long expecting Google to launch an operating system. However, a browser seems like a more probable application that we can see from the internet giant.

The company has now hinted towards the possibility of an upcoming project named Google Chrome.

This could well be the Google’s own web browser which would take on Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

Google Chrome is said to be based on Webkit rendering engine (Apple Safari uses that) and would obviously come preinstalled with Google Gears.

It is also likely to come loaded with a JavaScript Virtual Machine called V8. This would be an open source component and could be used by other web browser makers.

Some other features include: omnibox address bar, incognito privacy feature and an Opera like speed dial.
