Amazon launches Elastic Block Store
Online retailing giant Amazon has further enhanced their cloud computing service Elastic Compute Cloud.
The company has now added another feature to this service. This new component is Elastic Block Store.
Elastic Block Store enables the web developers to create a storage volume of between 1G byte and 1T byte. This volume can then be attached to “instances” of applications running in Amazon’s cloud.
They have been beta testing this new component since some time and it is now ready for public launch.
Experts are calling this service the Storage Area Network in the cloud. This would further enhance the value of the service and enable more applications to run on the Amazon’s infrastructure.
