Apple confirms remote iPhone App kill feature

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has confirmed that the company has the capability to kill an application installed on a user’s iPhone remotely.

He said that with so many third party applications now available through the Apple App Store, they had to have this capability to prevent any mishap.

Jobs added that more than 60 million programs have been downloaded by the users for the iPhone and iPod touch.

This is accounted for sale of software worth $30 million since the launch last month. He added: “The thing’s going to crest a half billion soon. I’ve never seen anything like this in my career for software.”
