JavaFX preview released
Sun Microsystems has announced the release of a preview edition of their JavaFX development platform.
Sun is designing this new technology to provide a Java based rival to Adobe Flex and Microsoft Silverlight.
The company said that developers would be able to use this platform to code applications that run within a web browser but appear as independent applications.
They would work on any JAVA compatible device including computers, mobiles and notebooks.
Company representative Ken Wallich spoke about JavaFX: “Only the Java platform is pervasive enough to allow developers to build and deploy RIAs across desktops and browsers on more than 800 million PCs, as well as billions of mobile phones and devices. JavaFX builds upon this foundation to deliver immersive and rich presentation capabilities to the existing Java platform.”
