Mainz, Germany – After exciting 20 days on the market, the popular media organizer for iPhone and iPod touch, reaches version 1.1. Stuffradar attracted many fans from day one at the App Store. Synium Software now enhance StuffRadar, for even better handling of Music CDs, Movies, Books and Games: new dedicated status management, customizable due dates and separate lists for lent and borrowed items. Version 1.1 also fixes minor bugs and improves StuffRadar’s performance.

StuffRadar is Synium Software’s media organizer for the iPhone and iPod touch. StuffRadar tracks your Music CDs, Movies, Books and Games. StufRadar finds the titles you own, and those you still want to buy. Everything, detailed information, personal rating and price is intuitively presented.

StuffRadar became available with the Grand Opening of Apple’s App Store. Two weeks later, we announce the update to version 1.1 with a host of enhancements and new features, most of them related to our much improved handling of ‘Borrowed’ and ‘Lent’ items.

Apart from dedicated list views and intuitive colouring of items, StuffRadar now offers optional due dates for all those instances where you want your ‘Stuff’ back in time. Of course, this works the other way around too: never forget to return that favorite Music CD to your friend or work mate.

We have also added a number of overall performance and usability improvements for StuffRadar: configurable sorting, ’smart’ display of items to maximize the use of the touchscreen on your iPhone or iPod touch. More options in StuffRadar’s preferences dialogue make using this pretty little app a joy.

Updates in StuffRadar 1.1:
* separate lists for ‘borrowed’ and ‘lent’ items
* optional, configurable ‘due dates’
* sort and browse items according to due dates
* borrowed and lent items are displayed in a different style for easier identification
* better visibility of items in the various lists
* items already in StuffRadar’s database now have a distinct color to more efficiently browse search results
* language-dependent, ’smart’ display of item titles (articles like ‘the’ and ‘a’ or ‘le’ can optionally be ingored to optimize use of touchscreen real estate)
* more sort options for your ’stuff’ for easier browsing

Supported Languages:
* StuffRadar 1.0 is fully localized in US English and German.

System Requirements:
* StuffRadar requires an iPhone or iPod touch with system software version 2.0.

Pricing and Availability:
* StuffRadar can be purchased for $8.99 USD, from the App Store on your iPhone or iPod touch, or from within iTunes on your Mac or PC.

I purchased version 1.1 of StuffRadar for my iPhone and like the coverflow and detail that is added with each entry to my library.

However, if you are like me and own a large number of DVDs, I would not buy the program at this time. I own over 1800 DVDs but had hardly added 50 titles to StuffRadar before instability and program crashes. By the time I reached 400 entries the program would crash after every 5 entries instead of after every 8 entries and a new type of crash that makes the phone go into recovery mode appeared. This major crash appears once for every 5 of the simple “blackout” crashes where the program freezes, goes black and pops back up on the desktop level of iPhone. This major crash gives many minutes of black screen with the white Apple logo as the entire system restarts itself.

Finally at some point I realized that I was having to repeat entries because about half were lost with each crash. Ultimately when I reached 606 titles it would forget Any and All editions as soon as I switched the program off or with any crash.

I wondered if syncing the iPhone more frequently would help any, but with iPhone OS 2.0 backing up the iPhone could take 5-10 minutes and doing that after every 5 entries was just not practical.

Yesterday the OS update to 2.0.1 came out and I found that backups average a minute or less. I started backing up the phone after every 8 entries and made some progress, but the crashes came back and I found myself backing up after every 4 entries. Soon it started forgetting some of my entries and at 652 total entries it is once again unwilling to retain any new entry, no matter what I do.

since I still have up to 1200 DVDs to add to the collection this is a tremendous irritation. I know there are other people with similar frustrations. I found a comment on the iTunes site by someone who stalled out at around 500 titles entered.

I have at least 4 databases where my total DVD list is tabulated, but none are available for my new iPhone. Until StuffRadar is fixed, I have had to settle for Exporting my Collectorz DVD database to an Excel document and e-mailing it to my iPhone. The list shows up as an E-mail attachment that can be read on the phone.

At least I will still be able to walk into a store and know what titles are actually in my collection, thus avoiding duplication.

I had hoped for more than that out of StuffRadar since it lists cast/crew and other details, plus I like having the cover art…even if blurry.

But I simply cannot recommend the software to anyone and would not buy it again, knowing what I know now.

Please fix this problem as I am going to have to remove a bunch of stars from my next iTunes critique. I gave it 3 initially. Now it’s down to 1.

    Help!!
