Microsoft launches MSN Messenger 5.0 for Mac
Microsoft has finally updated their instant messaging application for Macintosh platform. The latest MSN Messenger 5.0 Mac was released to the public today. The release is basically aimed at the enterprise customer but also features new things for the normal customers. This updated messenger is now compatible with the recently launched Live Communication Server 2005.
The application now also features improved security against malicious code or attacks and corporates can also monitor and log the conversations on the network. Microsoft spokesperson Amanda Lefebvre said in a statement about this software release: “The support for Live Communication Server enables server side session logging. Companies are very concerned about what employees say over e-mail. Now IT managers are able to go back and see what’s said and track information.”
This update also integrates better with the company’s global address list and a result the IM will allow users to search for others company employees who use Microsoft Outlook that supports an exchange server within in the Instant Messaging application itself. The version also features tabs for separating different group of users on the buddy list.
Microsoft has also tried to give this update a more Mac like look and feel. This version brings features like allowing the customers to develop their online personalities with customizable display pictures and the ability to view animated and custom emoticons.
