Mark Shuttleworth wants Linux to take on Apple
Founder of the Ubuntu Linux Distribution Mark Shuttleworth has said that he wants Linux to take on Apple when it comes to delivering excellent user experience.
He said in a statement: “Can we go right past Apple in the user experience we deliver. Certainly on the desktop experience we need to shoot beyond the Mac, but I think it’s equally relevant in the mobile space.”
He added: “The challenge for us is to figure out how to deliver something which is crisp and clean.”
Shuttleworth said that this aim has to be achieved without sacrificing the community process.
He was speaking at the O’Reilly Open Source Convention where he discussed the possibility of development of a new revenue model to fund free software.
Ubuntu has become one of the most talked about Linux distro online.
