Microsoft launches Microsoft Student 2006
Microsoft likes to define the standards for computer applications. And the latest application out of their stables would like to do the same. The company is now targeting the students who have problems working with their homework and studies and have released a brand new application for them in Microsoft Student 2006. This is also to help the parents who find themselves helpless with increasing workload and complicated work assignments.
The company conducted a survey and found that 71 percent of parents with 12- to 18-year-olds (in the U.S., U.K., France and Germany) feel unprepared to help their children with homework. This application is targeted towards such customer base. The software integrates with the MS Office application making it easier for the students to get used to the application modules.
One of the most important components of Microsoft Student 2006 is the Learning Essentials for Students, which adds tutorials, toolbars, and templates to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for reports, projects, presentations, and even foreign language assignments. The application also comes with modules, which help the students manage their time properly.
However, experts have said that the application leaves much to be desired and like most of the first versions of the products from the company, it would take another version or two to get somewhere near the quality levels they expect from a company like Microsoft.
