Windows Vista reportedly delayed to end of 2006
Microsoft has just launched the first beta of their much-awaited next generation operating system Microsoft Vista. The plan was to launch it sometime during the middle of next year. However, the latest reports in claim that the Operating System is now apparently delayed till the end of next year. It was revealed by a Microsoft executive who slipped out the information in a presentation on Microsoft’s campus yesterday.
The executive was addressing a financial analyst conference in Washington and Microsoft senior VP Will Poole said that the company should be out with Windows Vista by the 2006 US holiday season. Market experts believe that this should mean that Vista should be out at around S Thanksgiving holiday, which comes on the last Thursday in November, or Christmas, at the end of December.
However, Poole seemed to back down as he later said that the company would have the final version ready for the retail market in the second half of 2006 during the remainder of his presentation. The first beta showcased just a couple of the new features expected like the support for RSS, a new interface and virtual folders. The end user is more interested in support for WinFS and the Avalon platform.
