Opera brings Bittorrent back with Opera 8.10 Preview 2
Looks like Opera people are working hard at what they do best… release new updates to their excellent browser. Just yesterday, they released the final of the version 8.02 and today they were back with a preview release as Opera 8.10 Preview 2 is now available on their servers. This is basically a version of Opera with the Bittorrent support enabled which the company removed from the final version released yesterday.
There are also some other minor updates… most important of which is the fact that the company is inviting its users to check what problems they face with the browser IDing itself as Opera instead of the regular Internet Explorer setting. Many websites on the web use browser-sniffing techniques to develop web pages resulting in bad output in Opera. Opera fan base has long been asking for this setting to identify the browser as Opera on the web to get statistic programs to record hits from Opera browser properly.
The update also fixes bugs with JPEG EXIF data recovery and performance issues with Bittorrent support. The changelog is as under:
Changes since 8.02
Changed default browser identification to Opera.
Enabled Bittorrent support.
Fixed a crash related to JPEG EXIF data.
Changes in Bittorrent since 8.02 Bittorrent Technology Preview
Improved transfer performance.
Fixed an issue that could lead to Opera crashing.
Added support for the “scrape” protocol to retrieve ongoing statistics about a torrent. See the transfer tool tip for the additional information.
Better handling of out of disk space problems.
Enabled full transfer context menu for Bittorrent downloads.
Fixed a problem connecting to some trackers.
