WordPress 2.6 would get Google Gears support

WordPress is one of the most popular open source self hosted blogging solutions online.

The developers have said that the next version of this application (WP2.6) would support Google Gears.

Gears technology has been developed by the search engine giant Google to enable offline functionality for web based services.

It would allow the user to work offline on his blog and all the changes would be synchronized when he gets online.

The feature is user selectable and would be available through a new link in the admin panel (Turbo).

Looks like WordPress is getting another step ahead of rival offerings in the blogging space.
