Google covers the lunar surface with Google Moon

Yesterday was the anniversary of the first landing on the moon, which took place on July 20, 1969. And to celebrate the event, Google had something special in store for all their fans as they launched a variant of Google Maps in the form of Google Moon. This is a rather interesting concept as it let the users to view the actual landing positions of the various human missions to the moon.

To accomplish this task, Google has taken the help of the American space agency NASA who provided the search engine company with all the publicly open images. The web based application let the users to surf the Moon’s surface in the similar fashion that Google Maps lets the users to do on planet earth inside the browser while watching the surface of the moon closely.

Of course, this web-based service is not as powerful as the Google Earth considering the limitations of the powers with the search engine company. Nevertheless, this would perhaps be the first time such a wonder facility would be available in public for them to check out the only natural satellite our planet earth has.

Google also displayed their sense of humor on their application description page as they promised the users that by July 20, 2069 the 100th anniversary the company would integrate its local search product with Google Moon, so users can find out about lunar businesses and other moon-related information!
