Google: MySpace and WordPress to use Google Gears
Search engine giant Google has announced that both WordPress and MySpace are going to support their Google Gear technology.
Chris Prince, a Google representative said in a blog post: “Today, MySpace is launching enhanced functionality for MySpace mail using Gears. They are using the original Gears Database API with Full Text Search to enable fast and easy search and sort capabilities.”
He added: “The latest build of WordPress also integrates Gears, to improve performance, and to let users manage their blogs offline.”
Google developed Google Gears to enable web based applications to provide some functionality when the user is offline. The company has also added support for Firefox 3 and Apple Safari to Google Gears.
Opera has already said that they are working on bringing support for this technology to their desktop and mobile browsers.
